INDUCTIVE HEATING

Induction Solutions: Metal Forming

IAS is the global market and technology leader in the field of process-precise heating of billets for extrusion. In addition to billet heating, the melting and casting of non-ferrous and ferrous metals is another focus of IAS. We consistently rely on clean induction technology.

Correct heating of the forming material is essential for this process. For this purpose, IAS has developed the specially adapted inductive heating systems of the ExtruLine machine series. Precisely adapted to the materials to be processed, such as aluminium and copper and their alloys, but also steel and iron alloys or special materials such as titanium, zirconium, molybdenum or magnesium alloys, the IAS systems guarantee a precise and, above all, reproducible billet temperature.

With inductive heating, the metal is exposed to an alternating electromagnetic field by means of a current-carrying coil. Eddy currents are generated in the material without contact and heat is generated. This process can be specifically influenced by means of frequency and power. Since the billets are not heated by heat transfer as in a conventional furnace, the heating times in the IAS systems are very short and the temperature can be set very precisely.

All systems of the ExtruLine machine series have a modular structure, so that individual configuration requirements can be met in a highly efficient manner at any time and they can be seamlessly integrated into existing production lines. The system is designed so flexibly that it can be operated in conjunction with upstream gas furnaces for basic heating of the billets or as a stand-alone solution.
